Personality:
A casual acquaintance might immediately describe Bri as upbeat, good-humored, pleasant, and talkative. A detective, the woman is paradox, refusing to allow the dark nature of her work define her. She has succeeded in this only by an impressive amount of compartmentalizing and detachment, and has a unique ability to completely change focus between her work and home life.
When it comes to her cases, Bri is driven, relentless. She is passionate about people and holds human life in the highest regard, and will devote one-hundred-and-ten-percent of herself to bringing someone to justice. Because she seeks to understand people, she is particularly adept at digging up a seemingly-nonexistent motivation behind homicide. Additionally, due to her mild appearance, she is often called upon to play the ‘good cop’ when a situation calls for it, and has thus acquired a certain degree of theatrical skill. She is calm, cool, collected, and has excellent control over her temper. However, Bri likewise tends to hold anger bottled up for unhealthy periods of time. Consequently, she is prone to intermittent violent, and sometimes cathartic, bursts of emotion.
Those who know Bri the best can testify that she is at-heart a typical, all-American girl. Fun-loving and mischievous, she will go to any lengths to brighten someone’s day—provided that she isn’t so consumed with her own troubles to notice. With those which she is most comfortable, Bri is vulnerable and willing to bare her soul. As a result, when she forges a friendship, she does so with the intention of keeping that person around for a lifetime. However, since she also happens to be a fiercely independent soul, those instances are few and far between.
A perfectionist, Bri is perhaps never entirely happy with herself. She does not accept failure well, and feels guilt both more easily and on a deeper level than most people. Yet, instead of acknowledging such feelings, she turns to comedy as a defense mechanism, making jokes at her own expense in order to cope with her shortcomings. Highly critical of herself, she holds herself to nearly impossible standards, and in some instances would rather give up entirely on something than experience letdown after letdown in pursuit of success. This is likely the reason she has never won a fight with the kitchen.
In relationships, Bri can be guarded and pessimistic, preferring to take baby steps toward commitment. Truthfully, she has been hurt many a time by impatient men who have treated her callously. Once she finally does permit herself to fall in love, she is an open book. Warm and nurturing, she is unafraid to express herself in word and action, a feat that comes more naturally to her than perhaps any other. She is greatly in-tune with herself, aiding in building a connection with another person.
And, perhaps above all-else, Bri is, in a word, quirky. Idiosyncratic. Eccentric. Downright odd. In fact, any way you look at it? The girl is weird. A pop-culture junkie, she collects various editions of Trivial Pursuit, and has memorized every bit of the audience participation required to make an experience out of viewing The Rocky Horror Picture Show, right down to each toast-throwing cue. Should you look in her closet, you would find CD cases obsessively sorted by decade, and labeled alphabetically by artist and album. In her kitchen dwells a decorative pyramid of Starbucks espresso-shot cups, each labeled by date of purchase. Another shrine to her caffeine addiction can be found in the picture-frames she makes using Starbucks coffee-sleeves. She has a strange obsession with post-its. While she owns over thirty pairs of shoes, she would prefer to live totally barefoot. Laundry is enjoyable to her. The girl? Is weird.
